Meeting the Solomons

This morning Grandma Judy took Bea on a shopping spree and one of the things she got was a pair of sunglasses. Alyson, Eric, Tyler and Emily came over to Mike & Judy's for a BBQ and Bea was happy to meet them. Tyler held her hand.

Las Campanas

Tom drove to Upland from LA today and we had lunch at Las Campanas on the patio where the misters were turned on.

One more trip to Los Angeles

Today we drove back into LA for brunch with Jamie, visited the Whole Foods near her place (there aren't any in the Inland Empire and I wanted to buy a pack of their diapers), packed up the car and headed back to Upland. On the return home I went on one the freeways (the 605?) in the wrong direction and ended up in South El Monte, but Dan navigated us home.

The City of Gracious Living

Bea spent the entire day in Upland, beginning with a stroll around the Upland Hills Estates in the USC sweatsuit Tom and Anna gave her. Before the walk, she took a nap.

After the workout, Bea took a bath.

Laurel arrived after noon and we walked through The Colonies to have burritos and shop at Chick's, where I changed Bea's diaper in the fitting room.

Pasadena and Playtime

Today we met Regina for lunch in Pasadena and afterwards went to a 1940's era Macy's (Bea's 4th Macy's) that's closing soon for 5 months of remodeling. In the afternoon we picked up Grandma Judy from work and came back to her house to play.

The Farmer's Market

Bea met Ezra and her parents, Holly and Andrew at the Farmer's Market today. We ate Singaporean food served on banana leaves. Both little ones wanted to be held by Holly.

Meeting More Family

On Saturday Bea met her Uncle Tom and Anna for the first time at lunch in downtown LA. After lunch we strolled around and found a Macy's that was a time capsule of 1983. That evening Bea met her Uncle Mark, Aunt Sunmin, and cousins Mark Jr. and Douglas at YongSusan in Koreatown where we had a multi-course delicious meal.

First Road Trip

It took 5 hours to get everything into the car this morning, but we finally made it to Upland where we'll be for the next 9 days. Bea had her diaper changed in the front seat of the car outside of a McDonalds right before we headed up the Grapevine. When we got to Grandma Judy and Mike's house it was time to relax.

Keeping Cozy

Lara gave Bea this beautiful quilt she made for her after boot camp today. Before August and Lara left, the lil' gals hung out together.

Say What?

Bea spent the afternoon with Dan on College Avenue and she had a lot to say when I got home.

Heat Wave

It was so hot here this weekend that swaddling in the flannel blanket was out of the question. Turns out a pillow case does not work as well because there's just no corner to tuck, and Bea broke free in less than a minute.

Heads Up!

At Grandma Lily's, Bea lifted up her head during tummy time.

Bea got 4 immunizations today at her 2 month checkup and then Dan pretended to be a doctor.

Jamie Visits

Jamie came to visit from LA this weekend. We went to Le Cheval, Arizmendi, and the Farmer's Market by Grand Lake Theater. After all that fun, Bea took a bath.

Boot Campers

Lara and I joined the Baby Boot Camp this week up at Temescal Regional Park. After today's workout my mom came over to meet August and to babysit Bea while I went to The Claremont Spa for a massage, thanks to the gift certificate my friends at work gave me. The showers at the Claremont Spa have NINE shower heads, at three heights, and each set of 3 is controlled by a different tap.

My mom and I bundled up Bea in everything purple to drive to BART, where she got on a train bound for San Francisco and Dan had just arrived from SF.

Randy and Lara came over with a delicous steak for dinner on April Fool's Day with August.
