Heading Home

After eating bananas & playing to the max in the early hours of the morning, we got back in the car at 8:30 to drive home. We stopped 3 times for food, bathroom breaks, and a picnic. Bea fell asleep with one of her new books, 'Big Dog, Little Dog,' in hand.

Lunch with Uncle Tom and Tutu Debs

Debs is here from Hawaii and we went to lunch at the 'authentic' Californian restaurant, 'On the Border.'
Christmas Came Early

Since we won't see Grammy Judy & Mike again until the new year, Bea opened her gifts today, lots of great books, new clothes, and a bilingual talking animal farm that stole the show.
Walking it off

She didn't have too many mashed potatoes or pieces of pie, but Bea kept active the morning after the feast anyway, with a stroll around the house, the neighborhood, the kitchen and a video conversation with Aunt Callie, Uncle Matt, and cousins Wyatt and Addie in Colorado.

Driving to Southern California - the 12 hour trek

We stopped at a McDonalds near Firebaugh at 9:30 a.m. and Bea enjoyed watching the people line up for McMuffins while she ate her yogurt and apricots. Later, she was not so thrilled, as we got stuck on the 5 when it was closed for 2 hours due to low hanging power lines near Harris Ranch. We later pulled over in the rain so she could play in the front seat with Dan's sunglasses.

Playpen with Puppy and Ducky
After a fun-filled weekend visiting with Auntie Shirley and Grandma, eating part of a burger at Chow where she met another Beatrice who lives a few blocks from us, pointing and standing, Bea sat in the laundry basket with Puppy and Ducky for a few minutes to reflect on her good times.

New Jammies

These have the sticky feet so Bea won't be sliding around so much during her last burst of energy before bedtime.

Uncle Tom's In Town

We went out to dinner at Dopo where Bea ate her first loaf bread (kept her busy while we ate, thank goodness). That is, her first loaf bread, not her first loaf of bread. The piece of hard French bread seemed to work well as a teething biscuit. After dinner Tom came over to watch some college football recaps and then took BART back to The Palace Hotel. We can't wait to see him again at Thanksgiving in SoCal.
Saturday Brunch

We had a brunchy lunchy today to celebrate Lisa & Adam coming in from NYC for a visit. Bea and August learned the music ropes w/Justin and Nyles and Maysie brought over baby Skye.

Dan got Bea strapped in and she went for her first spin in a shopping cart. The cart read "suitable for children 6-46 months of age."

Dinner at Chow with Auntie Shirley and Grandma
Bea was mesmerized by our waitress and had a wonderful time at dinner. Shirley gave her two new books - "That's Not My Kitten" board book and another book that we are saving for later (so Bea doesn't rip out the rainbow).
